The Wood Used in Pro Health and Royal Deluxe Saunas
We are the only sauna manufacturer that kiln dries our
wood for 45 days to 92% dryness.  It is very important that
the wood is cured properly to prevent any splitting or
cracking in the future.  It also kills everything in the wood
so that fumigation is not necessary.

We do not use Cedar because we build these saunas for
health purposes and Cedar is not a suitable wood for that
application because it can irritate some people's
respiratory tract.  We use Canadian Hemlock which has no
toxins and the lowest amount of odors.  We have sold
these saunas to people with severe chemical sensitivity
and they had no problem with it.
Most sauna manufacturers use a loose fitting tongue and groove as shown below, but
we use a tight fit.    By placing the boards tightly together as shown above this not only
gives the wood a
nicer look, but it is much stronger as well.

The Difference Between Hemlock and Hemlock Fir

We only use Hemlock in our saunas because Hemlock Fir
is actually Hemlock with Fir (Balsam) mixed with it.   Fir is a
softer wood than Hemlock and about 30% cheaper, so most
companies buy the cheaper Hemlock Fir mix.  This can
create inconsistencies in the wood as they react
differently to finishing and use.  Because we always strive
to maintain a high quality product, we only use Hemlock
which is a much better wood for saunas.
Here are some close-ups that shows what the tight fit wood looks
like and the outside finish on our saunas.
